“Learning science requires that students behave as scientists. Asking good questions, being curious, practicing keen observations, appreciating critiques and criticism and – maybe most important – talking with colleagues, are qualities of the best scientists and the strongest students.”
Clark joined the Upper School Science faculty as a biology teacher in 2022. As long as he can remember, his life has been shaped by his interest in and his questions about the world around him. For Clark, teaching science is a natural progression of these pursuits, but more than that, teaching guarantees he engages daily with the most important minds on earth: those of curious students. A native Michigander, Clark came to Poly via graduate programs from Sonoma State and University of California – Davis and he most recently taught in the upper school biology classroom of a nearby school. He is confident that “Poly’s reputation as a community of engaged learners and teachers should be an excellent fit.” Clark, his wife, and two children spend a lot of time outdoors, while indoor time is largely spent reading non-fiction and/or watching NBA basketball.
