Sekou Cox joined Poly Prep’s Middle School Dean team in 2023. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Columbia University, and has been an educator and academic researcher since 2006. Drawn to Poly Prep by the school’s vibrancy, diversity, and commitment to nurturing the whole student, Sekou cherishes his education work, which involves a continuous iteration of theory and practice. Drawing on his immigrant experience, Sekou is committed to collaborating with all stakeholders to instill high expectations, and the unwavering belief that every student can excel academically and be a leader in their field. Sekou believes in the power of education to transform students’ lives and the world, and acknowledges that the success of each individual affects and reflects the success of the wider community. Outside of his education work, Sekou is an active athlete and patron of the arts.
